for the past 3 years, I have gone out onto Nimisilia Reservoir
Hi all-
for the past 3 years, I have gone out onto Nimisilia Reservoir to view the
thousands of Purple Martins that roost on the lake--yes I said thousands. This
year, I went out 4 times. I have posted videos on youtube.com --Look under
browncreeper53 to view these videos. I was out last week--the numbers are
down to "just" hundreds. They roost on a cattail "island" out on the water.
They usually use a large patch of cattails. Last week-they had moved to a
smaller patch--the larger patch looking pretty trampled over from the previous
weeks roosting by thousands of birds. I began watching them back near the
beginning of August. There is a good article from last years Beacon Journal
(Akron)--maybe a local library can pull up the article if anyone is interested.
Good birding--
