Julie Karlson, Larry Jeanblanc, and I birded at Buck Creek State Park (Clark
County just northeast of Springfield) this morning. It was very good. We
started at the beach where we found a Lesser Black-backed Gull and a
Sanderling. The only indication that the gull was not in adult plumage was
that the central tail feathers still had remnants of the black band.
Then we walked a trail at the horsemen's area off Grant Road where we had 10
species of warblers, a Yellow-bellied Flycatcher, and a Red-breasted
Nuthatch. We also had a Red-breasted Nuthatch on Thursday in the same area.
