Stopped by Chippewa Inlet late this afternoon (south end Chippewa Rd
trailhead). There wasn't too much variety but I did scare up a first of
season snipe which circled around and landed on the bike path. It just
stood there for at least 5 minutes until a bicyclist came along and flushed
it. That beats my longest look at a snipe by about 4 minutes and 55
seconds!

Three tree swallows were present and some female redwing blackbirds have
arrived.

There were also more than 30 turkey vultures in the area and as the sun
began to sink toward the horizon I saw why. They began roosting in craggy
trees along the north shore of Chippewa Lake.

Many, many rafts of waterfowl on Chippewa Lake but too far out to i.d.

Karen Gray
