Ross County is lucky to have Eagles that have made this area home. The Richmond Dale area (S/E part of Ross) in particular seems to have lots of winter sightings. I have one report of 13 eagles, along the Scioto in that area in Dec/Jan.
This area also has a nesting pr. and I checked them this morning. I could see one of the adults standing on the nest, and maybe feeding a chick? This distance is a 1/4 mile or so, and with only bino's, unsure about the young.
The field between Old Rt. 35 and the nest is a good one for A. Pipits...and there were around 50 this morning...taking flight, making a circle, than putting down in another spot.
And, for Bill W.- I checked for longspurs also, even though this area is a bit East of where one would expect them....So, no longspurs..but I'll keep looking.
