Hey all -
After searching the Coliseum grounds for the reported
shrike without success, I stopped to check the status
of the waxwing flocks and such at Oak Hill. I was
bummed to see that most of the berry trees had been
stripped and was turning around to head out, when low
and behold there it was - a beautiful adult NORTHERN
SHRIKE tee-d up along the entrance road. I watched it
for several minutes and even witnessed it yack up a
pellet.
The Oak Hill area is off Oak Hill Road in the CVNP.
Hard to say if this is the same bird from the
Coliseum...it's only a couple miles as the shrike
flies.
