Friday, January 6 - 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
This morning an immature bald eagle was observed flying over the lake from
the first parking area. About 30 minutes later, 2 mature bald eagles flew
over; and the immature joined them flying north up the Stillwater River
toward last year's nest. As it turns out, the two mature eagles were seen at
the nest on River Road--one standing in the nest, the other on the edge of
the nest. Another observer had seen the immature close by the nest. Some
skydancing took place and talons were locked !
Other sightings today at Englewood Metropark:
American wigeons
American coots
Green-winged teal
Northern pintail
Black ducks
Ring-billed gulls
Mallards
Canada geese
Red-tailed hawks
American kestrel (on wire along Martindale Rd.)
