Evening walks at Furnace Run (Summit Co. Metroparks) today yielded two firsts: my first Yellow Warbler of the season (main park area between pond and stream by road) and also my first blue headed vireo (daffodil trail).

Also rans were:
belted kingfisher
yellow rumped warblers (5)
blue gray gnatcatchers (2)
downy, hairy, red bellied and flicker woodpeckers
white breasted nuthatches
bc chickadees
swamp sparrow pair
cowbirds on the ground so involved in courting they paid no heed to me walking within 15 feet.
loads of robins, cardinals, blue jays, crows, redwings, titmouses, song sparrows, you get the drill.
a few canada geese and mallards on the pond

Thousands of daffodils are at peak bloom @ Furnace Run's daffodil trail on Brush Rd. Catch them while you can!

Karen Gray
