Thank you to everyone who responded confirming Song Sparrow id. I would
like to re-word my previous email to state that I watched a song sparrow
doing constant wing flicking behavior which I hadn't observed in one before.
But maybe a lot of ground foraging birds are wing-flickers when they think
no one is watching.

Subject: Song? Sparrow question
Today and two weeks ago I watched what I deduce is a Song Sparrow on our
patio, but it looks smaller and is constantly flicking its wings. It's so
active I had trouble getting a photo of it. Is the wing flicking a normal
behavior for a Song Sparrow? It's not a Lincoln's as far as I can tell.

Other notes: Yesterday a Red-bellied Woodpecker grabbed black oilseed from
the cling-a-wing feeder even though we have creepy crawly suet. Just saw
our Red-breasted Nuthatch drink from a birdbath for the first time. Earlier
today a Cooper's Hawk perched on patio post just four feet from the door.
Unfortunately our hawks appear to catch juncos more often than house
sparrows.
