Lake Hope State Park & Zaleski State Forest are located 15 miles from
Nelsonville(Rte 33) off of Rte 278 Below is a list of some of the Birds
seen March 8th (Tues)
E Towhee-2
Pileated Woodpecker-a lot of Drumming
N Flicker
Carolina Wren-2
Mallard-pair
Dark-eyed Juncos
Brown Creeper
C Grackle-7
Red-winged Blackbird-2
Red-tailed Hawk-Adult
E Bluebird-3 males
Great Blue Heron
E Phoebe-singing everywhere
saw one eating a Comma Butterfly
Warblers
Black-and-white-singing
Yellow-rumped-singing
Pine-at various locations
While watching them forage and sing in the sun- "OH So
Beautiful"
While watching one forage and sing, the male was doing 2
varieties of their song. Three other Pine Warblers were doing the
same-singing 2 varieties of their song in the same area
Misc
Spring Peppers and Chorus Frogs singing
Comma and Mourning Cloaking fluttering around
Bluets and Coltsfoots blooming
Bruce Simpson-Naturalist at Blendon Woods Metro Park
in Columbus
